I use various little things. My "big" set up consists of a Mapex 18" kick drum along with a hi hat that I put a tambourine on. So with that set up I can play bass or guitar at the same time and be a little one man band.

I am also very into my Cajon. It is a box that you hit. I know that sounds a little to simple but that is what it is. Two sides have a thin piece of wood and there is a hole at one end. You just sit on top of it and hit away. It has great low end like a kick drum and great snap like a snare when you hit the edges. They also make smaller models with snare wires mounted on the inside and then it really sounds like a snare.

So those are my main things but I also have congas, bongos, timbales, and a Djumbec if I need them. Lots of hand percussion. All my big hand percussion is made by Meinl. The best!!
